Advisory Consultant

Aurecon's Infrastructure Advisory team in Wellington are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and confident Advisory Consultant from Graduate level up to 2 years professional experience to join us in working on a wide variety of projects. This new position starts early 2019.

This growing team consists of diverse technical and commercial specialists who have a successful history in guiding organisations to improved performance, providing procurement strategy and advice, feasibility studies, business case development, strategic asset management and project and contract management services to government and private clients. In short, we utilise our skills and experience to assist Companies and Government Agencies bring their ideas to life.

Examples of recent and current projects include the New Zealand Schools PPPs, Strategic Asset Management for the Ministry of Education, Transmission Gully PPP, North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery (Earthquake response), KiwiRail Business Cases, and Christchurch Convention Centre.

The role will involve working as part of a team to:

  • assist clients with the development of feasibility studies and / or business cases in support of their prospective infrastructure projects and services,
  • provide advice to clients on forms of contract (e.g., Design and Construct, PPP) and strategies that best achieve their intended outcomes,
  • assist clients to project manage and seamlessly integrate technical, commercial and operational requirements into both contracts and projects,
  • provide clients with advice and support to assure delivery of contracted deliverables,
  • develop deep relationships with key clients and provide and expand our services to meet their needs, and
  • write and design proposals for new work.

Additionally, we often:

  • Facilitate workshops with clients and key stakeholders
  • Visit project/client sites across the country
  • Work collaboratively with our Aurecon consultants in the Auckland, Christchurch, and Australia offices

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • an inquisitive mind, and an aptitude for problem solving and critical thinking,
  • strong oral and written skills, possessing an ability to take complex information and processes and communicate them simply and effectively,
  • soon to graduate, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • the ability to self-motivate and a desire to work alongside clients to solve their problems, and
  • alignment with some of the Aurecon employee attributes is also vital: co-creative, commercial, sense-maker, inquisitive, engaging, resourceful, fearless and unconventional thinking.
