Job Summary
AECOM has an opportunity for an intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Power team and support the successful completion of a varied portfolio of challenging projects across New Zealand and Australia. This role can be based in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton or Christchurch.
Working as a key member in a dynamic, consulting environment, you will be contributing to projects within the hydropower, dams and 3-waters sectors. We will support the development of your technical and project management capabilities, giving you the opportunity to build your career with a broad range of clients and industry sectors.
Day to day tasks will include:
Hydraulic analysis of pumped and gravity systems
Water pipeline and pipework design and analysis
Materials and equipment selection
Hydraulic transient analysis
Production of drawings (with CAD support)
Specification writing
Construction contract document writing
Construction monitoring and site inspections
Minimum Requirements
About You
You will be agile and flexible in your approach, with the ability to collaborate within a tight-knit team to deliver high-quality engineering designs and documentation.
Experience in the design and specification of pumping systems and equipment
Experience with dam and canal mechanical equipment
Proficient in the use of fluid transient modelling software (Bentley Hammer or equivalent)
Proficient in the use of pipe stress analysis software (AutoPIPE or equivalent)
Excellent written and verbal English
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience
