Senior Equities Analyst


  • Provide research coverage of a selection of stocks across Australasian Listed Equity Markets
  • Opportunity to join NZ’s largest 3rd party Investment Management team (with over $29bn of Funds Under Management)
  • Gain exposure across products and asset classes, in a collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to progress towards portfolio management responsibilities

About The Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Have responsibility for coverage of a number of Australasian Listed stocks (your Coverage Universe) in terms of in-depth research, active recommendations and portfolio input
  • Active participation in the broader Team / Portfolio decisions thereby ensuring the highest possible risk adjusted returns for ANZ’s clients
  • Negotiation and pricing of both secondary market offerings and IPOs across your Coverage Universe. 
  • Representing ANZ Investment Management at the external CEO and Board level in relation to your Coverage Universe   
  • Assist in the recommendation and development of new products or investment options to deliver strong risk adjusted investment returns for our clients   
  • Drive growth in Australasian Funds Under Management (FUM) by contributing to retention and driving new business and other marketing activities
  • Provision of effective qualitative commentary on our investment strategy and research recommendations to key customers & the broader Investment Team.
  • Marketing to promote both the investment offering and research process, e.g. To Private Bank staff and clients, financial planners, asset consultants, institutional clients and at public seminars 
  • To be a knowledgeable and collaborative business partner within Wealth and ANZ to ensure satisfactory outcomes are delivered for customers and staff
  • Assist with the professional development of the Analyst Pool

About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience working in an analytical role at institutional level

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve investment research processes and strong decision making skills 

  • Proven ability to motivate, influence and succeed through collaboration    

  • Demonstrated team management and interpersonal skills    

  • Bachelor’s Degree is the minimum tertiary level qualification required
  • Preference for CFA charterholders or candidates who are part-way through studying for them

  • Preference will be given to candidates with direct relevant experience (either across New Zealand coverage or internally)
