Senior Network Engineer

About the role:
Our Network Services team provides the technology solutions we need to build New Zealand's best bank. We create innovative, stable and secure systems that solve problems, meet our customers? needs and allow frontline staff to provide world-class service. Reporting to the Network Platform Manager, this role will provide effective support management of our New Zealand data network, in order to ensure high availability for critical telecommunications services. 

  • Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure service impacting incidents are minimised.
  • Deliver process improvement initiatives, seeking to reduce cost and value-add to the network services for our business units.
  • Responsible for ensuring network process documentation accurately reflects the network infrastructure.
  • Adhere to the ANZ ITIL support models for Service Delivery and Service Support, ensuring these activities are tracked.
  • Completion of network related service requests, which will involve configuration of firewalls, switches/routers and other network devices.  

Location: Newmarket, Auckland (also open to Wellington)
Role Type: Permanent
Hours: Standard business hours with flexibility. This role also has an on-call component. After 3 months in the role, you will be on-call one weekend in five. You will be remunerated appropriately for the on-call component.  
About you:

  • 5+ years in operational knowledge of various network technical platforms/areas. These include; Wireless Networking, DNS, QOS, Scripting etc.
  • A background in technical support in Cisco and Firewalls.
  • Certification in Cisco and/or Firewalls is desirable or equivalent operational experience.
  • Knowledge and  experience in ITIL, Agile and Dev-ops Methodologies.
  • Ability to articulate and explain information to customers, peers, and managers in a way that makes sense.
