As our Customer Central vision spreads throughout Auckland Transport - new initiatives are pouring in! As a result, our innovative Customer Central hub is seeking a phenomenal Experience Design Lead to help bring these concepts to life!

Reporting to the Group Manager Customer Central, as one of AT's in-house Experience Design experts, your role will act as a coach for cross functional teams and a mentor for team leads - putting the customer at the centre of everything we do!

You will establish and evolve a library of templates or guides that will ensure that shared processes are consistent and robust across the business. Developing robust frameworks will streamline the Customer Central's multi-vendor and multi-stakeholder engagement processes. Building a foundation for a new way of working, for innovation, design thinking and creativity across AT.


Experience Design skills are key to success, along with proven project management experience and big picture thinking.

To be successful, you must have a relevant tertiary qualification as well as at least 4 years' experience in position practicing human centred design.

The energetic Experience Design Lead will bring:

  • A genuine flair for working with people from all walks of life; able to communicate, listen, connect and demonstrate true empathy
  • A passion for Sprint/workshop facilitation
  • Transformation experience, across both business and digital space
  • UX/UI skills including wireframing, rapid prototyping and visual design
  • Captivating storytelling and visual representation skills
  • Mapping customer experiences
  • Design research and user testing techniques
  • Experienced user of Adobe Creative Suite or similar
  • Digital and technology industry experience
