Integrated Network Planning Manager

THE ROLE

We are now looking for an Integrated Network Planning (INP) Manager to join our Strategy Division.

This a role that genuinely offers the opportunity to shape the Auckland's transport future. The INP Manager will lead the Integrated Network Planning Team to produce a set of innovative and customer focused integrated plans to guide the development of Auckland's transport system. This includes:

  • a new integrated network plan for Auckland Transport - covering all modes to deliver a safe and sustainable transport system that will keep Auckland moving
  • statutory documents, such as the Regional Public Transport Plan
  • sub-network strategies, such as the ferry strategy, freight strategy and strategic input into the optimisation programme.

This role will be responsible for ensuring that these plans have appropriate buy in from key internal and external stakeholders and work within the framework provided by the GPS, Auckland Plan and ATAP. Input into the wider Auckland Council Group and multi-agency strategy and planning processes will also be a key part of the role.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a transport strategic thinker who can lead a team to deliver high profile strategic plans to tight timeframes. We need someone who is well organised and outcome driven with strong problem solving skills. To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of cross-departmental or cross-agency strategy documents or complex public policy documents
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in central or local government, including transport planning or transport strategy
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in managing a team, preferably in a political or highly complex organisation
  • Previous experience engaging and partnering with senior stakeholders in central and local government in relation to transport infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding and knowledge of transport funding, planning and systems, sustainability issues and opportunities, urban planning policies, local government legislation, council practices and constraints
  • Understanding of statutory and policy framework for the planning and funding of transport in New Zealand i.e. LTMA, RMA, LGA
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates a disciplined approach to managing a budget, particularly consultancy budgets
