Our city is growing up and with more and more people calling Auckland home, more people are using public transport to get around. As our transport network expands, Auckland Transport is committed to enhancing the customer experience by ensuring our customers have a safe, reliable and efficient journey. Transport Officers form part of this vision.

What are Transport Officers?

From early November, uniformed Transport Officers have begun operating on the public transport network, starting with the rail network. In small patrols, they will target fare evaders, antisocial behaviour and provide a positive customer experience for users of public transport. They will patrol across all transport modes, gate-lines as well as transport interchanges on a rotating shift roster.

Transport officers will:

  • Carry out fare inspections and issuing infringements for fare evaders
  • Minimise antisocial behaviour and vandalism on the public transport network
  • Assist with incidents and emergencies on the network
  • Provide great customer service so our customers have a great journey experience

We are looking for people who:

If you're successful...

You will undergo an eight weeks of comprehensive training to become a warranted officer. The next induction is April 16, 2018.

You will also work will be highly varied, interacting with people on a daily basis, start on a base salary of $50,000 with additional allowances on top, and gain numerous opportunities to advance you career with supervisory roles.

Our process will see if you have what it takes to become a Transport Officer and you will need to attend an assessment centre as well as comprehensive health and physical check.

**Auckland Transport is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. **A key component of this position involves driving to a variety of Auckland locations. A full New Zealand driver's licence is a prerequisite and will be checked as part of your pre-employment assessment.
