Collaborative Solutions Lead


Context of the role

We have a vision to lead the energy sector to a lower carbon future and to make it possible for customers to decarbonise their energy use sustainably. One example is our new Demand Flexibility platform that rewards customers for being flexible with when, and how they use electricity. At the core of our vision is the Collaborative Solutions team, partnering with our commercial, industrial and public sector customers to help meet their energy needs of today through electricity sales and also helping them understand and transition to a more efficient and lower carbon future.

How you’ll be successful

Generating value by connecting customers with energy for today whilst delivering new business and partnership opportunities for the future through:

  • Influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver customer centric outcomes
  • Use our natural tactful nature to manage escalations or business critical issues with our key commercial clients
  • Reveal in finding improvements and efficiencies in BAU so you can spend more time taking care of our customers
  • Skillfully leveraging insight and creating bespoke customer stories to open up new business opportunities
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen, communication and negotiation skills to successfully navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Constantly looking at opportunities to innovative and exceed the needs and expectations of our commercial and industrial customers.

What you'll do

Working as part of the Innovation & Ventures business unit, you’ll be at the forefront of our drive to lead New Zealand business to a lower carbon future.

  • Building trust and positioning Contact as a partner and collaborator of choice for energy related services will be your ultimate goal. You’ll achieve this by helping a portfolio of commercial, industrial and government customers to understand their emissions, get the most out of their energy use and transition away from high carbon energy to electricity
  • Expanding and deepening working relationships with customers to ensure a customer-centric approach in the innovation efforts of the wider team will also be an important component of this role
  • Expanding internal relationships with other key business units to ensure exceptional overall customer experience as we continue to innovate and adapt with agility to energy sector disruption.
  • Collaborate with customers to match our innovation with their needs
  • Innovative and out of the box thinking to develop strategic solutions for our customers
  • Collaborate with multiple key stakeholders across this business (for example the Sustainable Opportunities, Marketing and Technology teams) in order to expand and deepen the footprint of customer solutions
  • Being actively involved in the solution design for the customer through agile product development – bringing the customer into their solution decision.

The type of experience you’ll bring to the role

  • A minimum of 5 years successful experience in business-to-business account management, some or all of which has been in a complex services and solutions environment
  • Experience with agile product development – ideally through design thinking and other agile tools
  • Extensive experience collaborating strategically with customers to develop mutual value
  • Experience selling solutions in disruptive market environments
  • Experience with mentoring others to guide and develop in the account management space
  • A working knowledge of the electricity industry and/or adjacent service sectors is preferable but not essential.
