As Contact’s Technical Authority – Mechanical Engineering, you will have a key role in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of our Generation assets and help in determining risks, opportunities and solutions for business challenges. Working within a matrix structure, you will be a strong influencer and collaborator with proven technical leadership with the ability to work confidently across a broad range of teams and levels within the business. Using your experience and knowledge of successful plant ownership you will provide technical advice in response to emerging plant challenges.
We need you to have the technical knowledge and experience to be a trusted voice in key decision making and therefore will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and have a minimum of 10 years operational experience in the maintenance and lifetime asset management of generation or similar industries to help guide our technical staff and decision making process. Fundamental to your success in this role will be your ability to connect technical resources across the country and your skills in working collaboratively in a range of reporting lines supporting business leaders will underpin your leadership within our engineering community.
One of your key strengths will be your ability to mentor and grow our mechanical engineers whilst supporting and working with people managers to identify and agree opportunities to allow our engineers to broaden their technical capabilities and keep across national and international developments.
Please note - we are flexible as to the locations of these roles which can be based where we have Contact offices or Power Stations (Te Rapa - Hamilton, Wairakei -Taupo, Clyde, Stratford - New Plymouth, Auckland and Wellington)
