The opportunity
 
As a Consultant in our People Advisory Services Practice you will work with leading organisations to help them get the most out of their people. With access to talented leaders, formal learning and a wide variety of practical experience, you will receive all the support you need to succeed. You will apply and improve your consulting capabilities as you work on high profile engagements and clients across NZ.
 
Your key responsibilities are to:

  • Create innovative people-based insights for clients that are specific to their needs and address their challenges
  • Help clients reshape how they operate, build the capabilities of their employees and effectively use their people to achieve their stated goals
  • Apply your knowledge and experience to adapt current EY methods and practices to fit client needs, particularly addressing the people component of their dynamic environment
  • Work successfully on challenging projects across a diverse range of industries



Your skills and attributes for success in this role will be:

  • Functional
  • Experience in business corporate services (e.g. HR, IT, Analytics and/or Finance) or
  • Experience in people-related functions (e.g. recruitment, organisational development, operating model design, employee relations or learning & development).
  • Understanding of organisational design principles and exposure to functions related strategy, business objectives, business processes and business operations.
  • Communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels (internal and external clients) – you enjoy meeting new people, can develop relationships and appreciate learning from others.
  • Excellent listening skills to fully understand the needs of clients and develop appropriate solutions that address their specific needs.
  • Ability to explain ideas and concepts clearly to ensure a broad audience can understand.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills (documents, presentations and group facilitation).
  • Innovation
  • A creative and innovative outlook, with ability to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Flexibility - client environments change, you must be flexible and able to quickly adapt to your client’s needs
  • Ability to improvise – foresee and implement a range of solutions.
  • Professional management:
  • Ability to successfully work autonomously
  • Ability to productively collaborate with others in cross-practice teams.
  • Work with integrity, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce high quality outcomes.
  • Competent in the Microsoft suite, Outlook and the Internet.
  • Effectively manage time by sharing knowledge and seeking advice from others.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • 1-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources operational role (consulting experience is not required)
  • A degree in commerce, psychology, management, business or technology
  • Experience working with an HRIS (e.g SAP)
  • Ability to travel for work purposes

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience working in a large/matrix organisation
