Creative Digital Designer, Wavespace, Auckland and Wellington

EY Wavespace is a global network of growth and innovation centres. Here our clients can explore and develop new ideas, in collaboration with technologists, business strategists, data scientists and experience designers.

The EY wavespace global network brings together multi-disciplinary talents, unique capabilities and IP, in custom designed, flexible working environments. We help our clients answer critical questions and build new products and services, for customers, staff and partners alike.

EY wavespace locations feature a shared methodology and connected platform that combines EY’s experience in disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, RPA, blockchain, analytics and cyber security, with EY’s design thinking methodology, customer experience capability and deep industry and functional business experience.

The Opportunity

You will be leading the production of media to tell the stories and visualise the results arising from research and innovation projects including written word, graphic design, video, photo and audio.  The emphasis will depend on the skills of applicants but graphic design is a core requirement.

As we prioritise building our methods and developing our library of reusable IP you will also be working with the Service Design Lead to develop templates for design thinking methods, reusable props for workshops, visual reporting for project results, and case studies to promote the work of the wavespace. This role will interact frequently with other EY functions and teams, particularly marketing, as we host client, industry and partner ecosystem events – and duties will include working with the team to influence our external media channels (social, internal and external communications, and ecosystems).

It’s important to note that we envisage this role being suited to someone interested in expanding their horizons and participating more broadly in the work we do as a team – this might include developing new skills in research, facilitation or user experience. The role will also be very client facing and include assisting in the delivery of specific workshops including preparing exercises, live illustration, and visualising findings. Bringing your own unique viewpoint and ideas to our team, to help solve some of our clients most interesting and challenging problems, anticipate the impact of technology and behavioural change, and identify new growth opportunities.

Skills and Attributes for Success

We are interested in speaking to curious, creative, collaborative thinker-tinkerers who are not afraid of challenges, who are used to working in an Agile way, and who are comfortable engaging with decision makers from the highest levels of some of New Zealand’s most interesting and complex organisations.

To qualify for the role you:

  • Are creative, curious and empathic
  • Have an interest in design, the design thinking process and service design and/or digital product design.
  • Have intermediate graphic design and motion graphic skills, with the ability to work proficiently with one or more other media including audio, photography and videography.
  • Have fantastic people skills - both in terms of working with customers, and also dealing with clients at very senior levels who will be challenging and confronting
  • Can mix top notch consulting skills with content and marketing skills, and have a really distinct personality and point of view
  • Are organised and quality focused, professionally pedantic, but also flexible, pragmatic and adaptive
  • Ask great questions and love solving problems.

What’s in it for you?

  • A chance to build your career in an innovation and design business
  • Work in a small, agile & start-up like environment, but with the scale and support of a corporate
  • Build your experience working in a respected global organization with some of the biggest brands in the country – and collaborate and work alongside a global network of like-minded people
  • Work on exciting and interesting projects for some of NZ’s most challenging organisations both in the public and private sector to build a better working world
  • Access to the latest tools, technology and solutions
  • The freedom and flexibility to handle your role in a way that’s right for you
  • Cool people in the team who want to share and help each other learn and grow
