Manager, Corporate Tax, Wellington

Our Corporate Tax practice revolves around helping our clients effectively manage their corporate tax compliance and tax accounting obligations proactively and efficiently, becoming their trusted tax advisor in the process. We are looking for a Manager to join our growing Corporate Tax team.

The opportunity
As a Manager, you will be central to helping companies achieve an efficient and effective tax function, identify tax planning and advisory opportunities and implement leading practice corporate governance procedures. You will be instrumental in driving efficiencies by offering leading practice solutions, including implementation of software solutions and robotic automation within our client’s tax functions, with a focus on interpreting data rather than inputting data.

Your key responsibilities
Drawing on your extensive tax experience, you will help to lead organisations to identify risk areas and to develop corporate tax planning and structuring ideas. Working with a diverse range of clients, you will provide technical advice on how to manage their tax compliance obligations and assist them with their tax accounting calculations and reconciliations. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside a global team, including project management and liaison between clients and EY’s speciality tax practice areas.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Tax technical skills in the field of corporate tax
  • Ability to develop strong and broad relationships with clients and provide a high level of client service
  • Ability to work with a number of different clients and internal stakeholders on multiple deadlines
  • Personnel and people management, including supervision and team building

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Relevant tax experience, ideally gained in a top tier accounting firm, corporate, business consulting or legal environment

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • New Zealand tax experience

What we look for
We’re interested in leaders with a genuine creative vision and the confidence to make it happen. You can expect plenty of autonomy in this role, so you’ll also need the ability to take initiative and seek out opportunities to improve our current relationships and processes.  If you’re serious about Corporate Tax and ready to take on some of our clients’ most complex issues, this role is for you.
