The opportunity
 
EY’s Government Incentives team wishes to hire a Christchurch-based Manger-Senior Manager to engage with New Zealand’s innovation community and support our clients in accessing R&D tax incentives, as well as other grants. Your STEM background, passion for technology and innovation and business acumen will deliver value to EY’s clients.
 
Your key responsibilities
 
Drawing on your technical knowledge gained from your education and experience in industry, you will advise and support our clients in accessing the R&D tax incentive, government grants and other innovation/growth incentives. You will engage with technology-active companies to understand their development objectives and drivers, analysing complex project information to assess eligibility for the R&D tax incentive and other government grants. Working in high performing teams, you will prepare detailed work papers and reports to help deliver exceptional results to EY’s clients.
 
As part of a flexible national team, you will:

  • Advise and support our clients to access the Government’s R&D tax incentive and other grants
  • Develop broad relationships across EY and with the country’s most innovative companies.
  • Build a regional presence
  • Lead diverse teams to deliver on client objectives
  • Analyse complex information to assess eligibility for the R&D tax incentive and other government grants

Skills and attributes for success

  • Genuine interest in innovation and technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Ability to build relationships and articulate information to a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to grow teams

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications in a science, technology, engineering or mathematic discipline. Applicants with a complementary double degree in business, commerce or law welcomed.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a science/engineering/technology industry, ideally leading research or engineering teams
  • Experience with government incentives
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Drive to provide exceptional service to clients and build a better working world
