Payroll Senior Consultant, Part-time or Full-time - Auckland


Do you have experience working in commercial payroll and enjoy liaising with varied stakeholders throughout the business?

The opportunity

 

We are looking for a Payroll Consultant to be involved in coordinating our New Zealand payroll but who will also support the Australian payroll as required and maintain the integrity of the payroll system. This role requires someone who is versatile and willing to work proactively as part of a team.

This role initially will be focused on working with our payroll outsourced provider. You will also be an escalation point for the business and outsource provider to resolve issues, assist to reconcile GL accounts, review work prepared by outsource provider and ensure pay-runs are made accurately and on time.



Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure smooth process of paying all employees accurately.
  • Review all work completed by the payroll outsource provider.
  • Act as the escalation point to resolve any issues for the business (HR) or payroll outsource provider.
  • Ensure accurate reporting is shared with finance colleagues on payroll information.
  • Review and understand all journals and monthly reconciliations of payroll related general ledger accounts.
  • Proactively review and work with payroll provider to put processes in place to maintain integrity of the payroll system. Raise risk factors to the Oceania Payroll Manager as deemed appropriate.
  • Maintain Payroll share point site or other means of sharing knowledge with employees.
  • Understand any changes in legislation which will impact the payroll operations.

Skills and attributes for success

  • The ability to communicate well with stakeholders across the business and externally.
  • Deadline focused with the ability to effectively resolve all problems and queries in a timely way.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity with a pro-active, positive, co-operative, “can do” attitude.
  • Flexible attitude to work extra hours at certain peak periods.
  • Desire to learn and an inquisitive nature.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Experience running NZ Payroll (in this instance we will consider part-time candidates only) or NZ and Australian Payroll (in this instance we will consider full time candidates)
  • Excellent technical competencies in the NZ and potentially the Australian payroll market
  • Experience in working with a payroll outsource provider
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Sound knowledge of all NZ and potentially Australian payroll legislation
  • Experience with mobility arrangements
