Senior Associate - Employment Lawyer - EY Law, Auckland

The opportunity

The employment law team is seeking to hire a senior employment lawyer with around 10 years’ PQE to join a busy team working on national and international engagements.  We work flexibly and would welcome applicants wishing to work on a part-time basis (three or four days a week).

Your key responsibilities

Our work is primarily (but not always) non-contentious in nature. We are looking for a lawyer with significant experience advising across the full range of employment obligations, including:

  • Employment law commentary and advice to a range of blue chip national and international clients
  • Drafting employment documentation, including incentive schemes, employment agreements, and policies and processes
  • Conducting holiday pay reviews and advising clients on holiday pay remediation
  • Employment law due diligence, negotiation and integration advice for national and international corporate transactions
  • Reviewing health and safety frameworks and processes and advising businesses on practical ways in which they can comply with their legal obligations
  • Working with our People Advisory Services and Advisory colleagues to assist our clients with the full range of people issues.

As a senior member of the team, our ideal candidate would also be happy working to mentor and develop more junior lawyers, both within the immediate team and more widely within EY Law.

  • Strong technical skills
  • Natural relationship building and inter-personal skills
  • Excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail
  • A positive approach and a can do attitude
  • Able to assist in leading a team and building a practice
  • An interest in business development and legal technology

To qualify for the role you must have the following

  • Around 10 years of high quality employment and health and safety legal experience
  • A detailed understanding and demonstrative knowledge of employment law
  • Excellent client facing skills and strong commercial acumen
  • Experience in working as part of a team, with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
