Product Development Engineer

From the grandest of ideas to the smallest of details, every day we're turning our passion into performance and improving life through good design.

We are on the hunt for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to join our Dunedin Design Centre to work on Cooking products.

About the role

As a Product Design Engineer you will be comfortable working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary engineering project. Responsible for driving collaborative work with all branches of the business to achieve your objectives (e.g. electronic, software, procurement and Simultaneous engineering teams).

These are hands-on engineering roles so you will need to be adept at hands-on practical test setups, capturing data and performing your own analysis, modelling and simulation of subsystem behaviours to drive key decisions around component design or selection.

Skills and Experience

You thrive in a hands-on environment where you can own the results of your hard work and be involved in managing your parts through the entire Product Development process from concept generation to serial production. You are inquisitive and practical, with a work ethic to strive for outstanding results. Good planning is an important aspect of your consistent track-record of on-time, on-budget work delivery that meets or exceeds requirements.

You'll need a degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Engineering Science with 5+ years' experience in a Product Development or Product Design environment. A background in complex appliance, automotive or aeronautical industries is desired but not essential.

Our environment is designed to allow people to thrive. Our culture is one in which our engineers can constantly develop, working alongside a team of talented and skilled engineers. At Fisher & Paykel you will have opportunities for technical growth and leadership within a global organisation.

What we offer

A collaborative team based culture, a challenging and supportive work environment, career development and an opportunity to work with leading technology. Also on offer is a competitive salary, superannuation scheme and relocation and immigration assistance (if required), just to name a few of our benefits on offer!

The position is based in our Dunedin Product Development facility offering an enviable work/life balance with its city position and close proximity to outdoor and leisure activities.

If you would like to be part of our team developing the world's next generation of appliances and technology, please apply online now.
