Lead Engineer

About The Role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be the Lead Engineer across Payments, Wholesale and Switching platforms (collectively with two Lead Engineer’s)
  • Accountability for the design, build, technical leadership and standards for the platform(s) you lead
  • Identify, lead and implement continuous improvement through automation, DevOps and Agile ways of working
  • Manage the lifecycle of the programme, ensuring it remains fit for purpose, well-supported and stable
  • Ensure all elements of the solutions are operationally and economically viable.
  • Stakeholder engagement and influencing, including at executive level
  • Work closely with the architecture team to ensure solutions align with the architectural strategy
  • Collaborate closely with platform leads, architecture, analysts and other stakeholders to ensure solutions meet customer expectations
  • Partnering with Platform Lead(s) to deliver changes faster and improve quality and stability of the platform, as well as ensuring technical clarity
  • Assist in creating technical clarity and drive trust, continuous learning and growth

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • To complement our current lead engineers you will be from a strong test automation (or development) background
  • You will be able to set test automation (or development) strategy, including for people, processes and tooling, and influence squads to implement best practice ways of working that you realise your strategy
  • Technically led agile teams and experience in embedding a collaborative culture of continuous improvement
  • Test automation experience
  • Development background with either Java, SQL or Shell Scripting
  • Strong experience with Cloud Technologies, either OpenShift, Kubernetes or AWS
  • Automation, Monitoring (at least 1)
  • Operating System, Database experience (at least 1)
  • Middleware, Integration (at least 1)
  • Confidence leading prioritisation, root cause determination, risk planning and solution definition conversations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; with the ability to operate and converse at all levels
