Transdev Auckland is contracted to Auckland Transport to operate passenger rail services in Auckland. The Auckland train network carries more than 15 million passengers per annum, is serviced by more than 600 Transdev staff, and operates more than 2,800 services each week. What the role involves:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Manager - Safety & Assurance is responsible for overall management of the Safety and Assurance function, including championing the drive to become a zero-harm organization, in line with the Business Leaders Health & Safety Forum's Zero Harm Pledge.

The role is also responsible for the maintenance of the business' Integrated Management System, ensuring that the business continues to retain its Rail Operating License and its ISO and other external Certifications (currently the business holds the following certifications; ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS/NZS 4801).

Working within the rail sector this multidisciplinary role needs to have a demonstrable track record in the management of all aspects of safety risk from occupational through to operational within a rail (or similar) industry. You will also need to have sound people management experience with several direct and indirect reports.

The successful candidate will also be expected to take the lead in the setting and monitoring the delivery of standards across the integrated management portfolio, including safety, quality, risk and environmental matters.

This role is critical in the development of the Transdev brand in Auckland (with the potential for greater influence within New Zealand) while, as a member of the senior management team, sharing responsibility for delivery on our strategic objectives.

What we're looking for:

To succeed in this role you will need to have the drive, resilience and tenacity to be able to help Transdev Auckland to drive the Zero Harm ethos throughout the business, from ballast to boardroom, whilst having the ability to constructively challenge accepted practices and methods.

The successful candidate with have considerable senior management experience and be able to demonstrate an ability to be able to operate at both corporate and operational levels.  The role will take the lead in setting and co-ordinating the delivery of strategies and standards in a dynamic business environment to ensure that the needs of business needs are met whilst ensuring that a focus is maintained on safety and zero harm.
