Job Title: Quality Safety and Environment Systems Manager (QSE Systems Manager)

What the role involves:

Reporting to the General Manager Quality, Safety and Environment, the role of the QSE Systems Manager is fundamental in the execution of our rail network operations and passenger services, quality, safety & environment business strategy. The primary purpose of this role is to implement, monitor and ensure compliance with Quality, Safety and Environmental standards and contract requirements. This will involve overall responsibility to maintain the document control, process and QSE management systems within the organisation and coordinate and participate in the quality system activities supporting the Quality, Safety & Environmental team, contributing to Transdev Wellington’s Vision for the Greater Wellington Passenger Rail network. The QSE Systems Manager is also required to implement and maintain a safe and healthy system of work across the Wellington rail network

Key accountabilities include:

 

  • Leading and developing Quality, Safety and Environmental management system improvements to align with best practice, contract and legislative requirements, including conducting system reviews, audits and inspections to determine compliance
  • Leading the ISO certification process for the business
  • Conducting and managing the internal and external auditing programme
  • Managing and ensuring compliance with the Transdev Wellington Management Systems (quality, safety and environment)
  • Preparation and distribution to fulfil the various internal and external reporting requirements
  • Coordinating the risk management process, including the review of the risk register
  • Advising the senior leadership team on any issues and any required system improvements
  • Managing the Transdev process mapping, incident management and document control systems
  • Helping to raise QSE awareness and culture across the organisation, including the coordination and control of change management and document control processes
  • Plan and deliver the internal and external assessments to ensure compliance with ISO, contractual and legislative requirements
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required as determined by either the General Manger Quality, Safety and Environment or the Managing Director

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Strong oral and written communication. A high level of developed interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role as is a demonstrated ability for excellent team work collaboration with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent ability in producing reports and presenting data
  • Experience leading and driving improved safety, quality and environmental performance
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational H&S, Quality and Environmental best practice
  • Experience in analysing work practices and formulation of innovative and effective solutions to QSE issues and management
  • Experience in risk management and maintaining corporate risk registers
  • Qualification or certification in Quality Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety
  • Lead auditor certification in Quality, OH&S and Environmental systems (e.g. Global Exemplar) and demonstrated experience in internal and external auditing
  • Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of QSE management systems
  • Experience in the facilitation of risk assessments and other management workshops
  • Experience conducting system reviews and assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement, including facilitation of Management Review meetings
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice to the Senior Management Team an system improvements
  • Proficient in computer use, particularly the MS Office suite
  • Ability to learn and implement new systems quickly, including in-house developed computer systems. It would be highly advantageous if you had Promapp and/ or SharePoint experience
  • Be proficient in identifying in the analysis and interpretation of data trends within the QSE environment to ensure the business is informed in a timely manner, assisting in the initiation of improvements
  • Experienced in gathering data to enable meeting the deadlines for internal and external reporting requirements
  • A proven record in continuous improvement
