Distribution Engineering Analyst

Who we are
We’re on a mission to reinvent the way homes, cities and communities are powered.

Our people are creating a new energy future where power will flow through brilliant infrastructure, smart technology and clever systems. It’s all about providing greater access to more affordable, reliable, sustainable energy.

Electric vehicles, renewables and next-gen batteries will all play a part. But it’s more than that; to truly shift the dial on decarbonisation we need the best and the brightest to capitalise on the convergence of technology, sustainability and customer focus that forms the basis of our strategy.

We’ve done great things already, join us and help us do even more.

About the role
Work alongside experienced and passionate analytics and engineering professionals to better understand our electricity and gas network performance and provide analysis and insights on how to get the best out of our energy assets.

As New Zealand’s largest distribution network, Vector is regarded as a leader in asset management and data and analytics are at the heart of what we do. You will be working with large diverse data sets to solve business problems, identify opportunities and build understanding across the entire asset management chain.

Who we are looking for
We are open to the level of experience you may have. You will, however, need to have a Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or similar along with some of the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in data mining and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent pattern recognition and analytical modelling skills
  • Experience working with relational databases to perform quantitative analysis
  • Some knowledge of programming languages such as R and Python would be desirable
  • An understanding of electrical engineering or the energy industry would be an advantage

Working across different and varied business units, your communication and presentation skills need to be strong, with the ability to convey information and present analysis in a clear and articulate way.

What we can offer you
