Manager Network Resilience

Who we are
We’re on a mission to reinvent the way homes, cities and communities are powered.

Our people are creating a new energy future where power will flow through brilliant infrastructure, smart technology and clever systems. It’s all about providing greater access to more affordable, reliable, sustainable energy.

Electric vehicles, renewables and next-gen batteries will all play a part. But it’s more than that; to truly shift the dial on decarbonisation we need the best and the brightest to capitalise on the convergence of technology, sustainability and customer focus that forms the basis of our strategy.

We’ve done great things already, join us and help us do even more.

About the role
Auckland is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. As New Zealand’s largest electricity distribution network, we need to grow our network to be both resilient and smart, to support our thriving city. With so many critical growth projects happening, the future architect of our network is critical to ensure we maintain a safe and reliable continuous supply of power. Provide thought leadership on how to design the network in response to the increase in distributed energy resources such as microgrids, solar PV, electric vehicles, and demand management.

If you want to take a lead role in designing and planning our network, this could be a fantastic opportunity for you.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a number of years’ experience in a core network planning role within an electricity distribution network.  Your experience will include a good mix of traditional technology solutions for network reinforcement, as well as knowledge of potential smart technology options to help maintain security of supply and optimise overall asset utilisation. The ability to help architect the network of the future, will be a big focus.

To be successful in this critical role, you will have excellent communication skills to complement your technical knowledge, both written and verbal.  Part of your role will be to represent Vector from a technical perspective in our interactions with both the national grid operator (Transpower) as well as with our major customers. You will therefore be able to correspond confidently and with authority on matters of technical importance.

You will be a good people leader, with a real desire to contribute to the wider team and add to developing a great culture. A tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline is required and you will ideally hold chartered engineering status.

If you are considering a move to Auckland, relocation assistance may be offered to the right candidate.
