Senior Legal Counsel

Who we are
We’re on a mission to reinvent the way homes, cities and communities are powered. Our people are creating a new energy future where power will flow through brilliant infrastructure, smart technology and clever systems. It’s all about providing greater access to more affordable, reliable, sustainable energy. Electric vehicles, renewables and next-gen batteries will all play a part. But it’s more than that; to truly shift the dial on decarbonisation we need the best and the brightest to capitalise on the convergence of technology, sustainability and customer focus that forms the basis of our strategy. We’ve done great things already, join us and help us do even more.

About the Role
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house team. You will have immediate exposure to a wide variety of interesting and challenging work as part of a savvy, highly experienced team where you will be able to continue to grow and develop your career.

Build your own internal brand as the ‘go to person’ for our businesses providing them with solution-focused advice. You will proactively identify legal issues and take responsibility for getting those issues resolved. You will be involved in a wide variety of work, from contract drafting and negotiation, to managing litigation or other dispute resolution to providing IP, privacy and health and safety legal advice.  And all as part of a smart, supportive team.

Reporting into our Associate General Counsel, you will have demonstrated that you are a team player with the ability to form good working relationships within a business setting.  Also essential are enthusiasm, the ability to be proactive and a flexible, positive approach. You will be strong commercially, have sound judgement and thrive on challenging instructions and deadlines.

What we are looking for
You’ll have worked as a commercial lawyer in private practice, in-house or both, for at least 10 years, managing complex transactions and stakeholder requirements. Experience in the technology, energy or infrastructure sectors will be an advantage.  You’ll pride yourself on your leadership capabilities & ability to provide high quality and commercially focused legal advice.
