Business Analyst


Full time, 12 month contract

Based in Britomart, Auckland

  • Contribute to industry wide changes that have a real impact on the banking industry and Westpac customers
  • Work on a wide variety of topics with many different stakeholders; with a mixture of project work and longer-term initiatives

About the role:

As part of regulatory change in the industry, Westpac New Zealand has a program underway to improve the continuity of all critical systems and functions relating to Financial Crime & Operational Risk.

In this role, you will work with business stakeholders across the work stream Initiatives to complete discovery work on existing business capabilities; assess gap, change, value and solution opportunities to enable solution decisions; and work with development teams to articulate change requirements. This role is part of a larger business analysis team and the work fits within a strategic framework of compliance driven obligations.

What you will bring to the role?

  • Business Analyst experience - from requirements definition process through to solution delivery (in a complex business and system environment)
  • Financial Services experience (ideally banking or insurance)
  • Technical experience and confident in the analysis of data flow between data warehouse and other systems
  • Business Process modelling
  • Proven experience using Scrum and agile techniques such as writing stories, negotiation, facilitation
  • Experience using development workflow tools such as JIRA, Confluence
  • Experience in solution assessment activities
  • Focus on understanding the business problem, opportunity or need as a precursor to solution assessment and development
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at once, from high-level strategic pieces to tactical components, and at varying stages of progress from raw ideas to refined pieces
  • Highly collaborative and an engaging communicator
  • Customer experience centric
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confident, team player with a can do attitude who sets goals with the expectation of achieving them
  • Delivery Agility : Able to change pace or focus as opportunities arise
