Compliance Manager (PCI DSS)

  • Full time, permanent role
  • Based in Britomart, Auckland
  • Flexible working options available

Westpac is a strong and trusted brand in the New Zealand market.  We provide great, innovative banking products and continue to enhance our customers experience with next generation banking.

We have recently embarked on a new phase in the way we work which has been one of the most significant changes in our organisations’ history – restructuring the ‘delivery’ part of our business into cross functional teams that have adopted working methodology drawn down from ‘Agile’ principles. We call it the Westpac Way of Working.

About the role

Merchant Acquiring is an important part of Westpac New Zealand’s payments and transactions services, but it is subject to a number of critical risks.

The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) framework is a key mechanism for ensuring that these risks are managed.  The purpose of this role is to ensure that Westpac’s merchant clients comply with PCI DSS requirements and with related card scheme rules on the processing and storage of cardholder and card authentication data.

This will include:

  • Maintaining merchants’ awareness of current and emerging PCI DSS and related data security requirements, and of the potential costs to them of a breach.
  • Periodically review merchants’ compliance, identify any issues and work with them to ensure that prompt effective remedial action is taken.
  • Advise merchants on how best to maintain PCI compliance when considering new business, processing arrangements or technologies.
  • Work with MasterCard and Visa to ensure that new PCI rules are introduced in a way that does not materially disrupt the market.
  • Help product managers develop new card acquiring products and services which more effectively meet customer needs and maintain the Bank’s competitiveness.

To be successful you will have:

Essential:

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS requirements, and related card scheme rules and mandates
  • Broad understanding of scheme card products, and card processing infrastructure and systems
  • Awareness of current and emerging threats and risks relating to card acceptance and processing
  • Proven ability to make sound, pragmatic risk management decisions

Beneficial:

  • Some product management experience with debit/credit cards or other transactional banking products
  • Some experience working in an agile environment and with agile systems, for instance Jira, Confluence
