Commercial Insights Specialist (742-668)

Commercial Insights Specialist

  • Work flexibly
  • Analyst with aspirations? - great career opportunity
  • Fantastic location on Wellington’s waterfront

We believe that if we want to be a world class Kiwi Company we shouldn’t just employ people, divide them into functional departments and tell them what to do. Instead we give them a reason for belonging, the possibility of a bigger purpose, and a hunger for the extraordinary.

We have an exciting opportunity in our Commercial Pricing and Portfolio team as a Commercial Insights Specialist. This role is a great mix of reporting, analysis, generating insights and providing the leadership that turns those insights into action that generates value for our Commercial customers and for Z.

In a typical week you could be:

  • Doing some work on understanding the value of each customer, generating some insights from that and then making recommendations to the sales team to take action on those insights
  • Designing, updating and automating reliable reporting dashboards in Power BI so that your stakeholders have the information they need at their fingertips
  • Provide an overview to the sales team of what prospecting activities are happening and provide direction for where there are opportunities
  • Using insights from our customers and their volumes provide accurate forecasts to our Supply team
  • Provide insights to our sales team that help them add value for customers
  • Monitor competitor's activity including pricing, offers, network changes and provide benchmarking and insights
  • Catching up with your key stakeholders to understand their needs and their customers’ needs
  • Managing our pipeline of prospects and the insights about our wins/losses
  • Supporting a customer price review or RFP

Sounds like fun doesn’t it?

This is a broad role and we are not expecting you to be an expert in every area, so if you have commercial acumen, at least five years’ experience as an analyst within a complex commercial environment and are strong in just one of these areas:

  • Analysis and Insights
  • Reporting and making the most from Power BI
  • Pricing

We can teach you the others provided you also have:

  • Demonstrated success in a role with revenue generating accountabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across an enterprise
  • A track record of analysing information, forming insights and then influencing stakeholders to turn these into action
  • An adaptable approach. In this business you need to be able to show resilience, invite feedback and work in a team
  • Problem solving skills
  • The ability to understand patterns and trends in numbers, showing strategic and critical thinking
  • Experience in business planning and evaluation
  • A good understanding of supply chain economics
  • Commercial acumen
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

And of course, you’ll be passionate about what matters to Z and helping us deliver on our aspirations.

Z is now New Zealand’s most preferred fuel brand. We are committed to diversity and inclusion and this year were named an Aon Hewitt best employer for the fourth year in a row. We are committed to Diversity and Inclusion, promote flexible working, have the Rainbow Tick and the YWCA Equal Pay Compact. This is a fabulous company to be part of, where the people work hard, learn lots and have fun. Sound like you? Then please apply. Applications close midday Friday 14 December 2018.
