We have an exciting opportunity in our Supply Chain team for a Contracts and Trading Manager for Crude and Feedstocks. In this role you will be responsible for managing Z’s external reputation in domestic and international oil markets, including industry representation and key partnerships. With your team of three you will lead crude planning and procurement activities, managing Z’s hydrocarbon crude and feedstock supply to ensure Z’s product requirements are met and develop new trading and hedging opportunities.

This is a senior leadership role, managing contracts worth over two billion dollars. In addition to leading your own team we will look to you to provide a wider leadership contribution to the Supply Chain team to drive performance, engagement and transformation. You will also:

  • Manage relationships and interfaces with crude and feedstock and freight suppliers and the refinery to ensure optimal outcomes for Z, in both safety and economic terms.
  • Manage stocks and working capital within agreed targets for total and individual crude, feedstocks and products.
  • Deliver timely decisions to optimize short-term crude and product supply disruptions to ensure supply objectives are met.
  • Ensure effective risk management of hydrocarbon pricing exposure.
  • Negotiate and develop third party spot and term hydrocarbon contracts and in assisting the formulation of any new processing deals.
  • Support products supply team negotiating and organizing freight to transport products and feed-stocks as required in the most optimal manner for Z, ensuring an economic, safe and robust supply chain.
  • Manage contract reviews and analyse, recommend and implement improvements.
  • Deliver best practice contract negotiation and contract performance management.
  • Develop new supply, trading and optimisation opportunities as Z’s risk appetite develops, such as:
    • Collaborative refinery optimization, physical supply and trading opportunities
    • Crude and product hedging and trading opportunities
    • Refining margin hedging and trading opportunities

In addition to having at least ten years’ experience in a commercial role involving international oil markets or similar you will have:

  • Familiarity with supply & trading, refining, and distribution economics, and its application to decision making or similar experience.
  • A track record of negotiating and delivering complex deals and experience in developing contracting strategies
  • Experience building genuine partnerships with suppliers, customers and stakeholders
  • A reputation as an effective leader who fosters a learning environment where diversity is valued, mistakes are owned and insights used
  • A broad knowledge of international oil markets, oil industry and oil industry know-how.
