What I do

I started in Group Strategy nearly 2 years ago, after a few years in management consulting. My team’s role is to drive Spark’s group strategy – working with the business to support Spark’s performance and growth.

Strategy work is generally project based, which provides an opportunity to work across a range of areas. This covers both product and market views; while this includes Spark’s core mobile, broadband and IT products, I’ve also worked on projects in adjacent industries, primarily media. This can include exploring partnership and investment opportunities across the Group.

My typical work day

My work requires combining creativity with analysis, finding engaging ways to present insights and actions. This involves interaction with stakeholders across the business, data gathering and analysis and the creation of packs/ presentations. I also work on market intelligence – looking at NZ and global trends and performance, considering the impact on Spark.

Why I like working for Spark

Working at Spark definitely keeps life interesting! The company continues to evolve within an industry that keeps changing, which provides awesome opportunities. There is a focus on development – both on the job, and through training/ external courses. The culture is collaborative, and the relatively flat structure provides a chance to work with people at all levels of the business.
