Principal Civil Engineering / Design Manager

Job Summary

The Role

Our Civil Infrastructure team is looking to appoint a Design Manager / Project Manager for infrastructure projects which we are delivering across New Zealand. This role will be responsible for leading the overall delivery of the project, interfacing with our Client, reviewing and ensuring the technical quality of the delivery.

Working closely with the wider Transportation team and managing relationships (internal and external) is a key aspect to this role.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing of the design delivery teams

  • Having oversight of the overall management of resources required for specialist design and engineering inputs;

  • Checking and verification of design outputs and deliverables;

  • Managing processes and deliverables to track and report timeliness of delivery, scope and budget

  • Working collaboratively with technical leads and wider project teams;

  • Performing active risk management to minimise engineering and assessment risks;

  • Reporting on lessons learned throughout the programme lifecycle;

  • Mentoring staff in their career development;

  • Being a Bid Manager responding to competitive tenders.

Minimum Requirements

About You

  • Proven minimum 10 years’ transport design experience, preferably with knowledge of detailed design and construction support;

  • Ability to manage resources across multiple work streams;

  • Experience bringing together a cohesive team on complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree

  • CPEng Preferable
