AECOM Construction Services deliver Project and Construction Management services to a variety of projects in Defence, Healthcare, Leisure & Fitness, Civil Infrastructure, Mining, Renewables and Commercial/Residential high-rise projects. This opportunity as a Project Manager will be based in our busy Christchurch office, and deliver a major sports facility project as part of the long-term rebuilding of Christchurch.

This is the opportunity to work on a major $300m project at construction phase and develop your Project Management skills in a client-facing environment. You will join an existing project team and play a key role in the delivery of the project, therefore having the opportunity to operate and influence across extensive civil works, structural works and vertical building elements.

The variety offered at AECOM Construction Services will help to expand and broaden your project experience through all aspects and phases of a project lifecycle, including safety management, quality management and design management. This opportunity will particularly expose you to support AECOM Construction Services’ responsibilities to client as Project Manager, Engineers Representative and Engineer to Contract functions.

Minimum Requirements

As a Project Manager in AECOM’s Construction Services, you will have a strong motivation towards Project Management in construction and be able to develop some of your skills towards becoming a full lifecycle, client-side Project Manager.

Therefore, as a successful Project Manager in our Christchurch office you will ideally hold some or all of the following attributes;

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction or similar

  • 2-5 years’ in construction project experience, ideally in either civil or vertical sectors

  • Strong interest in construction Project Management and working closely with clients to improve local communities

  • Strong understanding of NZ standards (NZS3910) and the contract administration functions

  • Clear and confident communicator, both verbally and in written reporting

  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects towards deadlines successfully

  • A strong sense of commitment and willingness to learn with a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven environment

  • Thrive in team working environments with an interest to learn and develop Project Management techniques

  • A good understanding of a consultancy and Project Management framework, alongside use of effective Project Management in benefiting a client’s project delivery in terms of efficiency, costing and timelines

  • Strong ability to influence and confidence in stakeholder management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management or Construction Management is desirable.
