Manager, Opl Risk & Compliance


  • Liaise across Wealth, Technology, Operations and other ANZ business units to drive effective management of technology related risks
  • Continuously improve risk management and governance over Wealth technology projects
  • Lead ANZ’s Wealth Risk function’s adoption of new technologies to improve the way we do things

About The Role

This role is part of a team of operational risk and compliance professionals (“OR&C team”) whose shared responsibility is to drive and support effective operational risk and compliance management throughout the Wealth business.  The role has particular focus on risks associated with technology and change. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Represent the Wealth Risk function on technology change project working groups.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to manage technology asset life cycles, security risks and incidents, change initiatives, technology & operational risks.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on all operational risk and compliance matters, in particular those relating to technology
  • Provide technology focused insights on business impacts related to key risks, projects, initiatives, change processes and remediation of risks, incidents and other business issues.
  • Support the OR&C team in managing and evidencing compliance with regulatory licensing and other business obligations relevant to Wealth
  • Provide risk support for the effective implementation of change initiatives by ensuring risk assessments are completed on all relevant business and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the business unit in incident management and appropriate remediation of issues.
  • Lead peers and other stakeholders by example, display and encourage behaviours essential to the delivery of a strong risk culture.
  • Embrace, drive and support change and ensure sharing of ‘best practice’ ideas across stakeholder groups.

About You

This is a key appointment to a business environment that is heavily regulated and closely governed.  Providing high levels of assurance on the effectiveness of the control and compliance environment is an essential part of the role. To grow and be successful in this role you will ideally bring the following:

  • At least 5 years technology risk management, systems auditing or equivalent experience or a strong technology operations or project delivery background
  • A natural tendency to be professionally sceptical, inquisitive with a change focused, agile mind-set.
  • An ability to anticipate and plan for change and take a long term view of requirements of the risk management function.
  • Excellent knowledge of technology risk management methodologies
  • The ability to use initiative, be proactive and tenacious in addressing issues
  • A formal certification such as CISA, ITIL, project management (e.g. PRINCE2) along with practical experience in its use would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of funds and investment management would also be highly beneficial.
