Career opportunity with a stable, long-term maintenance contract
A fascinating opportunity now exists for an experienced and suitably qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our hardworking and motivated HVDC team based in Wellington. This is a full time, permanent opportunity ( minimum of 40 hours a week).
The HVDC contract is a niche business and is unique to Ventia.
We service a large, well-known NZ organization and have been a strong, consistent, partner to them in delivering Power services all across New Zealand.
THE ROLE
You will be working closely with a group of experienced Tradesmen and will have the opportunity to share your skills as well as gain some new ones.
This role is predominantly based at the Haywards substation but maybe required to go away to remote sites as required.

ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate is someone with a Mechanical trade qualification and HV experience. You may also come from the Rail, Manufacturing, and Industrial sectors or have experience in Heavy Rotating Plant.

OTHER SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
Other strengths required for this role are: team work; self-motivation; ownership of jobs; reporting skills; ability to work alone and under pressure; availability for travel and a good sense of humour.
Flexible working hours are an essential part of the role as our job is to help maintain the NZ Power industry which is a critical and basic need in the country. Therefore, participation in weekend and night stand-by rosters may be part of the job requirement. Must be able to travel and work away from home with short notification.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug and alcohol test as well as a police check.
