About the role

An exciting opportunity now exists in our friendly, supportive, and collaborative finance team for a switched-on Project Accountant on a 6 months Contract. The role is primarily focused on supporting the Project Finance Manager to deliver finance excellence to projects.

You will ensure solid processes are in place to achieve accurate reporting, timely insights to performance and data integrity. You will continually identify and improve systems and processes for better results.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Delivering month-end results and analysis for construction and maintenance projects as well as supporting the ongoing maintenance and updating of the project forecasting and cost control tools to ensure accurate representation of the financial position of each project / contract.
  • Ensuring site progress is accurately captured through the use of project accounting tools such as cost-to-complete and Estimate at completions.
  • Updating working capital balances for each project through timely submission of monthly claims and proactive chasing of debt / retentions.
  • Developing and maintaining financial dashboards to assist the project leadership team
  • Providing insights into the financial performance of the project and communicate this to the project leadership team
  • Reviewing and actioning relevant items on the open purchase order, cost & revenue reports before and after month end with the collaboration of the Operations team and Finance Manager
  • Processing revenue/cost accruals and journals as directed by the Finance and Contract Managers.

About you:

Experience

  • Relevant work experience for a minimum of 5 years
  • Demonstrable experience in accounting on construction/maintenance projects, preferably in the infrastructure industry
  • ERP experience, preferably SAP

Skills

  • Intermediate IT skills (Excel, Power BI, Office 365 and SharePoint)
  • Must have excellent, fluent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytically strong, you thrive in a fast-paced environment with conflicting deadlines

You have a high level of written and oral literacy in English and you cope well with pressure, working with multiple stakeholders and conflicting deadlines.

Highly motivated, you have excellent organizational and time management skills and take pride in your quest for continuous improvement. Your leadership style is collaborative, empowering, and inclusive. Your ability to identify, evaluate, and respond to the commercial risks of current and potential business opportunities, will ensure you add value with this role.
