Head of Business Assurance

Head of Business Assurance

We care about the details

Our business is to put our energy where it matters and we’re an integral part of the lives of over half a million Kiwis. We’ve got an asset base that extends from Clyde to Hamilton and a whole lot in between. We’re the go to people for Geothermal Generation and as an integral part of the infrastructure of the country, we need to make sure our business runs to the highest standards

This is where you come in

We need you to lead the Business Assurance team to deliver the programme, to provide the Board and management with focused independent and objective assurance, and contribute to a collaborative and integrated risk culture across the business.

What you’ll do

You’ll lead the planning, delivery and reporting of independent and objective assurance to management and the Board. You’ll provide a single integrated view of the assurance needs of Contact and how these needs are met (for example through an Assurance Map based on a Lines of Defence approach)

You’ll assist in defining the internal control environment within the organisation, and management’s accountabilities for internal control (i.e first line of defence)

You’ll assist in ensuring effective oversight and compliance mechanisms (i.e second line of defence) and provide assurance over the effectiveness of the first and second lines of defence (i.e third line of defence)

You’ll engage with management and the Board to deliver high quality targeted assurance that meets needs and share findings on a ‘no surprises’ basis.

What do we need?

We’d expect that you’ve got experience in a senior assurance role as well as knowledge and understanding off risk management strategies and financial and operational systems and procedures.

You’ve got the ability to manage multiple priorities, complex situations, identify and analyse problems, and exercise creativity to develop and implement practical solutions.

You’ve got the ability to see the wood for the trees, including effective approaches to incident management, problem definition, root cause analysis and solution design.

An understanding of the New Zealand electricity and gas markets would be a bonus.
