Industry Business Development Lead, New Zealand

The opportunity
The New Zealand Industry Business Development Leader (IBDL) will work in conjunction with the New Zealand Market Leadership team to develop market presence across the various industries EY serves, and provide strategy & client leadership, solution deployment and operational excellence.
The IBDL will serve as an Account Director and work with our Lead Partners to deploy EY’s client centric solution offerings and carry a significant sales and revenue target contribution to the segment.
Your key responsibilities

  • Engage with our target client base on specific priority accounts – to develop relationships and bring the best of EY to the client
  • Provide expert advice to the Market Leadership team across EY service lines, to instil a sales culture amongst our community, develop and execute the go-to-market strategy
  • Drive cross-service line collaboration in the development of solutions through best use of our Alliance relationships, our digital offerings, managed services and other relevant offerings.
  • Develop a market-facing brand over time, by participating in industry conferences or forums, engaging on social media platforms, etc.
  • Serve as the strategic advisor on major pursuits within the market that have the potential to have a transformational effect
  • Mentor and develop the Business Development team in New Zealand

Skills and attributes for success

  • An engaging and influential style, comfortable dealing with people at all levels of an organisation up to executives and directors
  • Ability to bring new points of view and innovation to clients and service line Leads
  • Aptitude in understanding and incorporating multiple points of views and perspectives to develop solutions

To qualify for the role you must have

  • 10+ years of business development and account direction experience in professional services or a large corporate organisation.  Relevant industries might include banking, IT, law, engineering or agency - however an understanding of the professional services industry is crucial.
  • A proven record for selling complex services and solutions at the “C” level
  • Specific experience selling complex digital, technology and/or managed service solutions to clients
  • Experience and training in design thinking and related client centric methodologies
  • Familiarity with trends and issues that create opportunities to add value to the client’s business
  • Experience identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships internally to help achieve business goals
  • Exposure to managing others and coaching others in business development and engagement

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience working in the professional services industry at some stage in your career
