About the role

We are seeking a Test Engineer with a proven track record in Test Automation to join our Data Intelligence team;

  • As a Test Automation Engineer you will be a key member of our Scrum team designing, constructing, and supporting software to a high level of ongoing maintainability and availability
  • You will be responsible for a high quality and effective test planning with a focus on automation and a digital mind-set
  • Join a collaborative cross functional testing team
  • Ensure quality of tests developed are within agreed standards and keep up to date and share understanding of key industry standards and directions

 
Role Location: Auckland
Role Type: Permanent

Hours: Standard business hours with plenty of work flexibility options

 
About you

This role will suit an experienced Automation Tester who has the following essential skills and experience:

  • At least 5 years testing experience in the technical testing space with at least 3 years test automation experience
  • Proficiency (1 year minimum) with at least one programming language (e.g. SQL programming)
  • Previous experience with data warehouse testing and/or an understanding of data modelling and database design concept
  • 3+ years with a variety of tools that support test automation (e.g. Jenkins, Selenium, SoapUI etc.)
  • Proven experience with varied test techniques and approaches including an understanding of Test Driven Development
  • Experience designing automated scripts and suites with continuous integration in mind
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of functional and non‐functional testing
  • Experience in the software development lifecycle and ideally within an Agile environment (e.g. use of Scrum, Kanban techniques)
  • Sound stakeholder management skills with the ability to discuss technical solutions with varied audiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self-managing and a self-starter

The following experience is advantageous:

  • Understanding of large databases and data warehouse systems with proven experience in Teradata or Oracle (or SQL Server)
