Asset Management Engineer

Who we are
We’re on a mission to reinvent the way homes, cities and communities are powered.

Our people are creating a new energy future where power will flow through brilliant infrastructure, smart technology and clever systems. It’s all about providing greater access to more affordable, reliable, sustainable energy.

Electric vehicles, renewables and next-gen batteries will all play a part. But it’s more than that; to truly shift the dial on decarbonisation we need the best and the brightest to capitalise on the convergence of technology, sustainability and customer focus that forms the basis of our strategy.

We’ve done great things already, join us and help us do even more.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to manage electrical assets and optimise and prioritise the engineering capital expenditure for the replacement and/or refurbishment of electricity assets in a commercial and risk weighted context.

Using a combination of data analytics and information gained from our field staff, this role will monitor the network performance and provide insights and recommendations to support optimal asset management planning. This will lead to the production of detailed scopes of work for delivery by  the wider team..

Understanding the changing expectations of Vector’s customers and needs is a key strategic requirement for this role. Vector no longer sees itself as an organisation that manages infrastructure assets only – we are a customer-focused business that needs to understand what our customer’s value and are willing to pay for and manage the strategies for our electrical assets accordingly.

What we are looking for

A qualification is not mandatory, but it is essential to have solid working knowledge of the various assets that make up an Electricity Distribution Network, at least a few years’ experience would be ideal.

You will love working with technical information, some that is provided to you and some that you gather through robust investigations and field-based observations. You'll demonstrate the ability to interpret and identify trends with excel based data and will enjoy working with risk based and financial models to provide validated recommendations on how best to optimise Vectors assets. Contribute to our Asset Strategy by preparing and reviewing from concept of the strategy right through the change control process, to publication.  Coordinate detailed inputs from the engineering, finance, risk, operational and customer teams.

We love working with a diverse range of people who are inquisitive and passionate about energy, who have confidence to bring new ideas to the table. You will be able to work collaboratively and effectively across teams, and have strong communication skills.

What we can offer you

We take pride in our vision and values, working together to create a new energy future.

You'll be joining a dynamic company that provides the ideal career environment for individuals with high calibre experience and skills. You'll be offered a competitive salary, a range of great benefits, and the opportunity to grow your skills and make a real difference in a supportive, high-performing team.

Vector engages a workforce made up of individuals with diverse skills, values, backgrounds and experiences. Vector respects and values people who are different from each other, including gender, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, race and religion.
