DevOps Engineer (Identity/ForgeRock)

  • Full time, Permanent Role
  • Based in Auckland
  • Join a passionate, best-in-class technology team

Westpac is a strong and trusted brand in the New Zealand market.  We are proud to offer some great innovative banking products and continue to enhance our customers’ experience with next generation banking.

We have recently embarked on a new phase in the way we work which has been one of the most significant changes in our organisations' history - changing the 'delivery' part of our business into cross functional teams that have adopted working methodology drawn down from 'Agile' principles. We call it the Westpac Way of Working and we want you to be part of it.

How will you help?

In this key role, you will provide consulting and expertise in DevOps and platform engineering to a team that runs a customer identity management platform based on ForgeRock. This includes designing, building, improving and supporting the platform stability and engineering. While expertise in ForgeRock is and Identity is helpful it is not essential. You’ll also assist in analysing, developing and maintaining high quality systems that support user requirements, meet the required service levels and are cost effective to run in the short and long term.

You will need to remain continually aware of business, infrastructure, and technical issues to aid in the development and implementation of innovative solutions and anticipate future direction in the tech industry and relate that to current or upcoming requirements.

Essential attributes:

  • At least 4+ years’ experience in continuous deployment, continuous integration and automation toolsets and concepts, especially with Linux, Jenkins, Monitoring, Terraform and Chef.
  • While some experience with identity and ForgeRock will be beneficial, the essential will be a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in moving platforms to Docker, Kubernetes would be beneficial.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical issues that may arise during the deployment life cycle.
  • Ability to apply effective Quality Assurance and process improvement activities
  • Demonstrated experience of agile methodology.
  • Willingness to focus on the ‘ops’ side of DevOps to operate and provide support for the platform.
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Computer Science, Business or an associated discipline (preferred).
  • Certification for relevant technical and management disciplines.
  • Banking experience (preferred).

The benefits:

It’s not all work and no play. Along with a great culture where inclusiveness and diversity are celebrated, permanent employees are eligible for many benefits:

  • A banking package designed just for you
  • A range of personal development programmes
  • A wide range of recognition programmes to reward top performers
  • The opportunity to join our staff superannuation scheme

Westpac is an equal opportunity employer. As part of our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, this role is open to experienced candidates seeking a discussion around workplace flexibility.
